It is a small Hotel with very small but comfortable rooms. The hotel has a charming garden, where the breakfast will be served on good days. It is the ideal starting point to experience Hamburg without a car, just by walking. Within 5-15 min walking distance you reach the port, fish market, amusement quarter, fairground, traditional warehouses, museums, the exhibition halls and congress centre. A bit eccentric and youth hostel stile dominated. The entrance is in the backyard. The lift, which is accessible for handicapped persons, can be reached directly from the foyer. On the ground floor, there is a lounge with a TV and internet access as well as the breakfast room. The house is completely free of cigarette smoke. All rooms are equipped with shower and toilet. All rooms are non smoking rooms. Good for those on a budget who won't be spending a lot of time in their hotel rooms. The neighbourhood is quite nice, lots of nice cafes and pubs. Außen Alster Hotel (Schmilinskystr. 11) Hamburg's smallest luxury hotel is hidden behind a snow-white facade built in the late 1800s. It has been family-owned for many years. It is one of the special features of their family-run hotel to be completely dedicated to their profession and to make the guests feel at home. The tradition is also reflected in the care and meticulous attention paid to details with which restoration and renovation work was carried out in recent years. The hotel has 27 rooms with form follows function. Modern colours predominate, and there is no point in looking for plush and pomp. Originally built as Hamburg’s seafarer’s home in 1864 it reopened as hotel in 1979 with only 80 rooms. It is considered to be the most hanseatic and maritime hotel in Hamburg with a sensational view over the harbour of Hamburg.
